Donald Glover has been keeping a relatively low profile—according to Getty Images, his last photographed red-carpet appearance was at the end of 2019. For that, he wore a highly tailored Gucci suit, showing enough shin to recall the glorious ankle-blasting days of menswear’s yesteryear. But now Atlanta has returned after a four-year hiatus, and Glover is back on the carpet. While he was gone, suits became roomier and more generous, and we’re glad to see that Glover’s looks have moved with the times—which is to say, he’s embraced today’s devil-may-care tailoring without missing a beat.

For the premiere of Atlanta’s third season, Glover turned to the Italian luxury house Zegna, all the way down to the footwear. The look comes from the label’s current spring-summer collection: a kimono silk jacket with a tonal wool crewneck and a pair of cotton-hemp trousers. The cut is delightfully baggy; Glover’s jacket meanders down past his pockets, and the high-waisted pants pile perfectly on top of his mélange slippers.

A few days later, he showed up at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, upping the slouchy effect to more significant volume in a lemonade-yellow suit from London-based King & Tuckfield. The outfit seems simple at first glance, but a closer look reveals an ocean of sartorial details. Glover’s shirt features a notched collar that wraps across the boxy silhouette, and the pants are billowingly wide with sharp knife pleats. The only contrasting shade—lavender—comes via the Scarosso shoes.

It’s quite nice to see Glover dressing for the limelight again. Over the years, his excellent personal style has never wavered, weaving in and out of everything from extravagant suiting to bold knitwear. Consider these two looks the sign that Glover is officially back with fits that are literally bigger than they’ve ever been.
