Disney is celebrating the life of the late Virgil Abloh and his enduring legacy with a new collection of limited edition merchandise, available to purchase now via the Brooklyn Museum.
Forming an extension of the Brooklyn Museum’s “Figures of Speech” experience, the new collection from Disney and Virgil Abloh Securities will feature never-before-seen Mickey Mouse artwork by the late designer. As you will see below, Abloh’s Disney-inspired artwork will feature the iconic character in new ways that hasn’t been seen before, printed in various colourways across multiple apparel options, including hoodies, T-shirts and accessories.
“Virgil Abloh was a creative visionary and we are thrilled to have the iconic Mickey Mouse immortalized through his lens,” said Tasia Filippatos, president of consumer products, games and publishing for Disney.
“With this special product, we celebrate two global icons and the enduring influence they’ve both had on the art and pop culture communities.”
Shannon Abloh, Virgil Abloh Securities president and wife of the late designer, added that the collection captures Abloh’s creative joy on working with the Disney character.
“Building on his past collaboration with Disney, Virgil brilliantly captured the joyful essence of the iconic Mickey Mouse through the unique lens of his imagination,” said Shannon Abloh. “We are thrilled to share Virgil’s beautiful interpretation with the world through this special limited-edition merchandise.”
The limited-edition merchandise will be available to purchase at the Brooklyn Museum, as well as online. Prices range from $30 to $120 and the merchandise will be available while supplies last.
