A dog was shot during by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy in Acton on Wednesday, according to law enforcement officials.
The shooting was first reported at approximately 1 p.m. on Valley Sage Road in Acton.
“An animal got shot,” said Lt. Joshua Bardon, the watch commander at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station, later adding there was a dog involved.
Deputy Miguel Meza of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau confirmed that a deputy was involved in the shooting, but said he did not have further information beyond that.
“They were responding to a call … it wasn’t about the dog,” said Meza, saying that the deputies involved were responding to the scene as the result for another reason. “We don’t have a lot of the circumstances.”
The status of the animal remains in question as of the publication of this article.
