Coronation Street actor Johnny Briggs, who played Mike Baldwin on the soap, has died aged 85.
Johnny’s death was announced by his family in a statement which read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Johnny Briggs.
“He passed away peacefully this morning after a long illness, with family by his side. He was 85.
“We politely ask for privacy at this time, so that we can quietly grieve as a family and remember the wonderful times we had with him. Thank you,” they told The Sun Online.

Johnny was best known for his role on the Corrie cobbles as he played lothario Mike Baldwin from 1976 to 2006.
His character had a dramatic exit as he had been suffering with Alhzimer’s for months before collapsing in the street after a heart attack and dying in the arms of Ken.
He appeared in a charity special for the soap as a ghost in 2012.
Actor Johnny also appeared in a number of Carry On films and a many more TV shows and movies including war flick 633 Squadron.
Johnny leaves behind six adult children Karen, Anthony, Michael, Jennifer, Stephanie and Mark.
Soap star Johnny was married twice, he wed Caroline Sinclair in 1961 before splitting in 1975.
Johnny then went on to marry Christine Allsop, who he was married to 1977 to 2006.
