Coronation Street star Lorna Laidlaw has revealed the ITV soap will be tackling a big racism storyline soon.

Lorna, who plays Aggie Bailey, had to sit back and watch after a recent storyline which saw her husband Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) fall victim to some horrific comments.

Bistro manager Don (Phillip Broadbent) continually made racist comments towards Ed with Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) pushing him to react.

But Ed advised his sons to let the comments slide, however it soon proved too much and he stood up to Don over his racism.

Now, actress Lorna has confirmed some upcoming Coronation Street spoilers, saying that viewers should expect a huge racism storyline coming on the cobbles.

Since joining, they have had a number of important and dramatic storylines, dealing with topics such as sexuality in sport.

More recently, Michael was left devastated after his ex Grace (Kate Spencer) came back into his life with a little girl, who he presumed was his daughter.

Grace continued to see Michael with the baby girl, and they got back together – until Grace freaked out.

Eventually, it was revealed that Grace was actually just babysitting the little girl and she wasn’t Michael’s baby, let alone hers.

She was soon arrested for kidnap and sent to prison, but she was hiding that she was pregnant.

Michael bumped into her at the hospital and she told him then, but he didn’t know what to believe.

Elsewhere, James Bailey (Nathan Graham) struggled to come to terms with his sexuality and later had to deal with the reaction of his dad and team mates when he came out as gay.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV
