SINGAPORE: A woman was taken to hospital after a car caught fire in a Central Expressway (CTE) tunnel on Tuesday (Nov 2).

The incident took place at about 5pm along the CTE towards the Seletar Expressway, said the police.

“A 33-year-old female driver was conscious when conveyed to the hospital,” they said.

Video footage seen by CNA showed a car engulfed in flames along the side of the tunnel.

Another video showed vehicles stalled in traffic as plumes of smoke emerged from within the tunnel. A fire engine and an ambulance were also seen at the site.

Police investigations are ongoing.
