She’s used to curtseying to Queen Charlotte while playing society darling Daphne Bridgerton in Netflix’s hit series, but Monday saw actress Phoebe Dynevor joining real-life royalty at the Dior couture show – albeit virtually.
With the pandemic putting a stop to Paris Couture Fashion Week as we know it, fashion houses have taken to video and social media to relay their latest collections, painstakingly created by thousands of petit-mains at the brand’s ateliers.
Dior’s show kicked off couture week with a Tarot-inspired digital presentation, with virtual ‘front row’ guests photographed against a themed backdrop wearing the new SS21 collection.
Dynevor’s look was a far cry from the corsets and pastel shades we are used to seeing her in, instead she wore black trousers with a white shirt and leather lace-up top.
Meanwhile Beatrice Borromeo, the wife of Monégasque royal Pierre Casiraghi, and new Dior ambassador, wore a denim jumpsuit teamed with a printed scarf and ‘D-Connect’ sneakers.
Others on the virtual front row included up-and-coming actress Maria Bakalova, who starred in the recent Borat film.
Borromeo has married into a family famously obsessed with fashion. Her sister-in-law, Charlotte Casiraghi, is the new ambassador for Chanel, while her mother-in-law, Princess Caroline, has been a long-time friend of the fashion house. She herself is also known for her impeccable style, famously wearing five wedding dresses when she married her husband Pierre in 2015.
