DR RITA RAKUS

Rakus has 30 years in the business – but the queen bee of aesthetics doesn’t rest on her laurels. When she’s not presiding from her HQ in Knightsbridge, dressed in Dolce, you’ll find her jetting between clinics in Dubai, Vienna, LA, Cannes and Monaco. (Her combination of HydraFacial and Exilis skin-tightening makes for a red-carpet-worthy complexion, pre-film festival.) Covid conventions haven’t made her job any easier; however, she admits that they’ve influenced her approach. ‘Patients were coming in wearing masks,’ she says. Then they’d take them off, and they’d look totally different. It really underlined the role that the nose plays in the shape and position of the mouth.’  Rakus employs her Da Vinci Lips technique to restore balance to the lower face, via artistically administered droplets of hyaluronic acid, or even Botox: ‘It’s great for correcting a drooping tip.’ And when it comes to the tiniest tweaks, she can leave lips looking luscious with her Swift Lip service (two micro-shots of filler). However, she is also a pioneer of technology, with her London clinic serving as a launchpad for some revolutionary products: the Juvenus skin-booster, for example, which enhances hydration while stimulating fibroblast activity for noticeable lifting, or the next-generation, ADVATx laser, which uses yellow and infrared light to fade fine lines and pigmentation. (Her new Dr Rakus Five Star Lips treatment combines both, plus needlework, nose reshaping and hydrating with a Universkin lip mask.) ‘Ultimately, I try to give patients their energy back, and make them feel confident again,’ she says. ‘Sometimes we just need to see ourselves in a new light.’

Consultation, complimentary; Da Vinci Lips, from £745: Juvenus, from £750; ADVATx, from £600; Dr Rakus Five Star Lips, from £795 (drritarakus.co.uk).
