Anna Delvey, the convicted fraudster who conned New York high society into believing she was a German heiress, is attempting to shift her reputation from scammer to artist. In a bid to salvage her reputation, ‘businesswoman’ Delvey is launching a line of 10 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) called Reinventing Anna – a play on the title of the 2022 hit Netflix series, Inventing Anna, which focuses on the criminal’s fall from grace.
In 2019, Delvey was convicted of a handful of grand larceny and theft services charges and sentenced to four to 12 years in prison, after defrauding banks and hotels of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Now, in her latest move for financial gain, the faux socialite revealed to NBC News that she has plans to make waves in the virtual art market. During an exclusive interview with the broadcaster, Anna revealed that her NFTs, which can be purchased with cryptocurrency, are called Anna access cards and will grant buyers perks like exclusive live streams and one-on-one phone calls with Delvey. Three of the cards are ‘ultra-platinum’ NFTs, affording the opportunity to meet Delvey in person.
Delvey has also released the news via her Instagram account, alongside a caption that reads: ‘I’m so excited to finally drop my first NFT […] I see this first drop as an opportunity to directly connect with my audience and to take charge of the narrative that’s been largely outside of my control, until now’. People were quick to comment on the post, making reference to her grifter persona with sarcastic remarks such as, ‘Yes girl! Can I pay tomorrow? I forget my credicard’ and ‘If it doesn’t go through; just run it again?’
