Last fall, Alana Haim reintroduced herself to the world. Thanks to her screen debut in Licorice Pizza, Paul Thomas Anderson’s Oscar-nominated film, Haim went from Los Angeles rockstar to buzzy breakout actor. (She plays guitar in the Grammy-nominated band that bears the family name, alongside her two older sisters, Este and Danielle.) In the process, she has also emerged as a sharp dresser with a soft spot for slouchy suiting and of-the-moment details. Simply put, the youngest Haim is dressing like a master of contemporary menswear.

Let’s be clear, the Haim sisters have always had immaculate personal style, blending low-key California cool with a timeless eclectic flare. (Not to mention this sibling-style moment at the Brit Awards—all three decked out in The Row.) But with a big-time movie part comes red carpets and late-night talk show appearances, and Haim has not wasted those opportunities. It started last December when Haim appeared on The Tonight Show without a musical instrument for the first time. To mark the occasion, she donned an incredibly slouchy suit from The Row—a pitch-perfect pairing of brown and black—with boots from Bottega Veneta. The following month, she showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live in a long leather overshirt and tan trousers, both from Bottega Veneta. At other points in the Licorice Pizza press blitz, Haim has made a sweater vest and baggy trousers from Marni look as good as it gets.

It is no accident that all three of these labels are fiercely loved by today’s fashion set—each brand makes the type of logo-less luxury clothes that wink that its wearer is in the know. These menswear-inflected looks come from the hand of stylist Rebecca Grice, who has been dressing Alana and her sisters for years now. In the past, the Haim sisters have swirled through rock ‘n roll staples like blue jeans and leather jackets, but Alana’s embrace of high-grade suiting is a fresher affair. Last week, Haim posted to her Instagram in leather pants and a striped shirt from the Italian label Loro Piana. But the real star was on her feet: “Camion” boots from fiercely loved Swedish brand Our Legacy, a boot that is in high favor with the insider menswear crowd. And just two nights ago, ahead of her appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, she shared another fit pic: an all-black suit from The Row. (Like a true movie star, she swapped out the look for a dramatic ensemble from Louis Vuitton by the time she took the stage.)
