Accor has partnered with Expedia Group to launch a new Flight + Hotel site, which will allow customers to “seamlessly add flights to their hotel stay”.
For members of Accor’s ALL loyalty programme it will mean points can be earned on both the hotel and flight portion of packages purchased through the Flight + Hotel site.
Details on points earning have yet to be announced, but Expedia said that the site will launch in Australia later this year, followed by the UK, France and Germany.
Customers will have access to Expedia Group’s global supply of more than 500 airlines worldwide through the Open World platform, allowing them to attach flights to their hotel bookings.
Expedia pointed to two pieces of research to explain the move – the first showing that over half of travellers state that it is “more important to travel with their loyalty providers than before the pandemic”, and the second showing that package customers cancel 75 per cent less, stay twice as long and book twice as early compared to non-package travellers.
Commenting on the news Ariane Gorin, president of Expedia for Business, said:
“Accor is a long-standing partner and we are proud that it has placed its trust in Expedia Group’s technology and our team.
“By using Expedia Group’s Open World platform, Accor’s travellers will have access to our global supply of airlines along with our multi-lingual traveller support services, and will be able to earn Accor loyalty points in a seamless end-to-end experience.
“Accor itself will now be able to increase brand loyalty, grow revenues and attract the high-value package traveller.”
The Flight + Hotel site follows on from a new service launched earlier this year, enabling Accor’s loyalty members to earn and redeem points when reserving taxis and private hire vehicles through the ALL app or website.
